The conscience group was set up in order to raise awareness of Human Rights issues among the people in our reach.
Actions..
Our first event took place on the 27th of April in the Cafe Twee Heren. We organised a discussion drink with the topic Human Rights vs Patent Rights in regards to the AIDS/HIV medication issue: Human Rights vs. Patent Rights.
Three spaekers from UM and the Ministry of foreign affairs came, who gave sufficient background information and facilitated the discussion among and with the audience.
Invitation to the Evening Conference "Roma Today: Personal Experiences of Europe’s Biggest Minority"
The Maastricht student group of Amnesty International invites to an evening conference about the present-day life of Roma (Gypsies) in Europe. Roma guests from different countries will talk about their culture and traditions, but also about stereotypes and discrimination against them. There will be Roma music to enjoy.
The conference will start at 7 pm, Tuesday, December 5th.
Location: Het Landbouwbelang, Biesenwal 3 (across from Het Bassin, at the Maas, 1 minute from the Markt) in Maastricht

There will be two speakers:
Joris van Poecke (on Terrorism) and Dr. Peter Bal (on Criminal Law) presenting the topic and debating it with the audience.
The Discussion Drink involves experts presenting the topic, drinks, an open floor to discussion and questions, and interesting debate!
